Kutlwano in Pretoria for university tourney

Kutlwano, whose male and female teams lead their respective league logs, leave for South Africa today. Club spokesperson Shadrack Modiakgotla said the invitation came at the right time as their teams were preparing to play in the Top Eight and Zone VI competitions. The TUT tournament is part of the institution's 10 years of volleyball success celebrations.

Modiakgotla said their aim is not just winning but gauging their strength as well.

'We will perform to the best of our ability because it is every team's intention to make a mark when competing,' Modiakgotla said.

He said TUT might have invited them because of their good performance in recent years. He said their presence might attract spectators as they head into the tournament as Zone VI champions. Kutlwano have been invited alongside Red Skins of Lesotho and Swaziland's Lumahasha men and Bob sisters. The tournament will be played on a round robin system with the teams that finish first and second making it to the finals. 'We are also on a mission to foster relations with teams outside the country,' he said, adding that he believes they are moving in the right direction. Winners will walk away with R5, 000 while runners-up will pocket R3, 000. Thirdplaced teams will get R2, 000.

There will also be individual awards for Best setter, Best attacker, Best defender and Most Valuable Player (MV). The teams are expected home on Sunday.
