Kanye Swallows court Kalambo

Club chairman, Steven Sorinyana said Swallows who were promoted this year want to maintain their status in the First Division and that is why they want Kalambo.

'It is true that we are trying to bring Kalambo to Kanye because we are really serious about staying in the First Division.

Right now, nothing concrete has come out of the negotiations mainly because of lack of money. We know he would need money and we have to find a way of dealing with that,' Sorinyana said.

Gaolefufa quit the Swallows' coaching job last month after losing all the first three league games.  The coach refused to disclose his reasons for leaving. 'I decided to leave before things got out of hand because there were certain factors which were making my job difficult,' he said.

Sorinyana said he was now positive his team will survive in the First Division.

This follows the recent good form, which has seen them move from the bottom of the log to ninth spot after two draws and a shock win over Letlapeng.

In the match against Happy Hearts, Swallows were on the brink of registering a second win of the season after scoring two early goals. But two Swallows' players were sent off and this changed the complexion of the match. 'Changing the coach has really helped us. Although our former coach voluntarily left, I believe it was for the best because immediately he left, we collected a point against Naughty Boys and that improved with a win away to Letlapeng when many people did not give us a chance. We started scoring goals and even the overall performance of the team has been impressive,' Sorinyana said. He said the controversial red cards in the game against Happy Hearts robbed them of a deserved win. 'The referee cheated us but that is no longer our focus because we cannot do anything to change it.

My players are raring to go and if people still believe our recent performance was a fluke, then they should come and see what we will be doing against Young Strikers in Kanye on Sunday,' he said.

All the Swallows' losses were at home and the team has been good on the road, earning five points away from their base.

Sorinyana admitted that playing in front of home fans could put his players under pressure to perform, although he was positive the recent good results will help build confidence.
