Title race wide open, says ECCO coach

After watching his charges recover twice to notch a 2-2 draw against BDF XI on Saturday afternoon, he said the title race is still wide open.

A win on the day could have seen Mamoja-Diskie climb to the top of the be MOBILE log standings for the second time this season as leaders, Township Rollers, dropped points in their 1-1 draw against Gaborone United on Sunday.

'It was going to be difficult playing against BDF XI after they suffered two consecutive defeats. At the moment, I am not bothered about being on top of the log. This league still has a long way to go and I think our time will come when we will top the standings,' Moyo told Mmegi Sport in a post-match interview.

He said he was happy that his charges played the big clubs away in the first round and still managed to avoid defeat. 'We will see what happens when we play them at home in the second round. We can not say we are falling behind in the league race because we have only played 11 games so far and we still have 19 more to play,' he said.

The Francistown side are strong contenders for the title this season after struggling in the previous campaign. The team has one of the most feared attacks led by captain Malepa 'King Goals' Bolelang who has already hit double figures in the goal scorers' charts while the likes of Mandlaenkosi Sibanda, Patrick Lenyeletse and Bonolo Fraizer have proved sharp in front of goal.

ECCO has been breathing heavily on the neck of Rollers and remain very much in contention in the title race. They are  second, just two points adrift with an unbeaten record. ECCO became the first side from the north to win the national soccer title in the 2007.
