US-based DJ Dagizus set to tour Botswana

Chatting to Showbiz in an interview, the DJ, who is also known as Dallas' Most Wanted in Texas for his unique DJ mixing skills, said he will be back home next month to showcase his talent to locals during the tour.

'I will be coming to blaze Botswana this December with my mixing and dee-jaying skills as well as impart that on young talent,' he said adding that he hopes to work with upcoming local DJs, especially female ones during the Botswana tour.

The DJ pointed out that he particularly wants to work with women to show the world what they are capable in the male-dominated DJ industry. DJ Dagizus, who is based in Dallas, Texas, currently owns a recording label, Dagee Studios, a DJ service providing company, Da-G Productions which houses an Internet radio, Dagee Radio and an Internet live show, Ko Ga Mmapereko Live.  He is also managing and working with some of US rappers like Cato under his label.

He said that while in Botswana he hopes to look out for talented individuals and sign them up.  'I intend to sign up some local artists to my stable, Dagee Studios and introduce them to overseas market,' he said. The 32-year-old artist told Showbiz that one of his foremost passions is working in the studio whenever he gets a chance so as to enhance his dee jaying, mixing and rapping skills. According to the artist, his love for hip hop music began in the 90's when together with his friends Moffat, Gorata also known as Honey Boy and Ronald formed an underground hip-hop group called Steady Niggers, which was based in Selepa, Francistown. Some of their music was played on Shakes Da Mix's show on RB 2 and the group broke up before they could release an album due to other commitments. 

Better known as Dagee or Da-G back then, he changed his stage name to DJ Dagizus (Da-Jesus) in 2008 when he moved from Botswana. He told Showbiz that his deeply Christian family is opposed to the stage name since it is pronounced as Jesus. According to the artist, because of hard work, he has managed to carve a name for himself in the city of Dallas where he is a well-known DJ.  'A good number celebrities around Dallas are aware of my skills and I get invited to play at their functions, parties and other events.  I also play at different locations and clubs around Dallas metropolis such as Zambezi Lounge, Caribbean Grill, Trinity River Caf, Club Nai and many more,' he said. He said his main influence was his uncle who taught him how to rap and write his own songs. He also grew up listening to some of Ice T, Mc Hammer, UB 40, Public Enemy, Notorious B.I.G, De la Soul and all this was done at friend's house due to his strict family Christian background. 

According to the DJ, he is currently working on his first hip-hop single called When I Come Back, which is to be released soon and it will be featuring some of American rap artists.  DJ Dagizus' Botswana tour will cover Gaborone, Francistown, Maun and Kasane.
