BMD leader warns on planted evidence

When addressing a BMD rally in Ramotswa Motswaledi said: 'They might plant some stuff in your cars. Batsomi ba rona ba re tsoma, ba re tsomela boammaruri. (Some people who hate the truth that we say are looking for an excuse to put us in trouble). So be careful because you might be framed as they might plant dagga or even some minerals in your car so that you are taken to prison when in actual fact you have done no wrong'.

He stated that burglars ransacked and stole three laptops and two Blackberry cellular phones in his house recently.

He said the laptops had valuable party information, like strategies and ideas. He suspects that the burglary was a covert operation by some people to get strategic information of the new party.

He said that while he was attending a memorial service in Phakalane, some people broke into his house in Broadhurst. The burglars disabled the power control box, cutting off electricity to the alarm system.

'They then broke a window and gained entrance and got busy, searching all the drawers and anything that looked like it could have something in it.

From the sitting room right to the bedrooms, everything was turned upside down. The house was a complete mess.

Interestingly enough, they only took the laptops and cellphones, yet there were so many things that they could have stolen. I have decoders, television sets and a whole lot of things that thieves would normally take.

That is why I think these are not your usual thieves. They had a motive,' he said. Motswaledi added that fortunately, they have back up for the information that was in the stolen laptops.

Broadhurst Police Station could not comment on the matter as the station commander was said to be out of office. Directorate of Intelligence and Security director-general, Isaac Kgosi denied reports his officers were involved in the break-in. 'We were not involved.

But I saw in the Sunday Standard where they say security agents were involved. That is not true. They are just seeking media attention,' he said.
