Motlakase in road mishap

Club's chairman, Mangisi Segadimo said the team was involved in an accident but no one was injured.

'Our team bus was involved in an accident. It hit a cow along the way, but we are happy that no one was hurt,' Segadimo told Mmegi Sport yesterday.

Chouka Chouka, as the team is affectionately known, were returning home after the 0-0 draw against Police XI in Gaborone.

Motlakase midfielder Hillary Madzivanyika, who was in the bus at the time, said the accident happened 30km from Mahalapye.

'But we managed to drive all the way to Palapye, though the bus was slightly damaged,' he said.

Meanwhile, Madzivanyika is confident the team will survive relegation. The Palapye side is currently at the bottom of the log after only managing one win and three draws.

'I believe we will survive relegation this season. It has been a challenging season for us so far. I feel we play good football but we struggle to defend at the back when we score. We often lose concentration towards the end of our matches and concede unnecessary goals,' he said.

Both Segadimo and Madzivanyika believe the club's coach Stanley Mwaanga has what it takes to steer the team to a better finish this season.

'He is a great coach and we have faith in him,' said Segadimo.

Madzivanyika pleaded with management to give the coach all the support he needs.

'I think one thing that always affects clubs is the frequent changing of coaches. I wish they (management) could keep the coach. He is a good coach and, as players, we need him,' said Madzivanyika.

Mwaanga replaced Madinda Ndlovu who quit the club to join Zimbabwe's Black Mambas at the end of last season.
