Rollers on course to defend title

Like any other team that wins the championship, Rollers were rocked by internal conflicts, which largely hinged on bonuses. Despite denials from the management, it was apparent that all was not well at Rollers, with players threatening to boycott their league opener against Black Peril.

Although the team lost several key men from the championship-winning side, including coach Rahman Gumbo, Itayi Gwandu (both to Mochudi Centre Chiefs), Edwin Moalosi (USA) and Aubrey Kebonnetse (USA), Rollers have proved unbeatable.

Rollers are perched at the summit of the Premier League log with 32 points from 12 games. Their nearest rivals, ECCO City Greens, faltered after only managing a 1-1 draw against troubled Extension Gunners.

Rollers were not ruthless against Notwane but they still managed to collect maximum points in a 4-1 win. This has been Rollers' strength since last season. They win even if they do not play well, something that other teams have failed to do.

Joel Mogorosi is enjoying the form of his life and so is holding Malawian midfielder, Lawrence Majawa.

Meanwhile, ECCO dropped two points at home against Gunners and lost ground on the leaders. The Francistown side remained second, but is now four points behind the champions. It was ECCO's fourth draw in their unbeaten run this season. Chiefs and GU also dropped two points each.

At the other end, Motlakase, TASC, Miscellaneous and Black Peril continue to struggle. With three teams facing automatic relegation, the four sides would find it hard to improve their situation in the second round.
