Going getstough for Gunners

Gunners began the season slowly but showed signs of recovery as the campaign progressed. But after reports of player unrest over unpaid salaries, Mapantsula has been on the slide. They lost 1-0 to Police XI before coming unstuck against Santos.

Before the weekend action, Gunners were fourth ahead of Mochudi Centre Chiefs. But now, Chiefs are fourth after their 2-1 victory over BDF XI on Sunday. Township Rollers and ECCO City Greens continued their unbeaten runs with wins over Miscellaneous and Black Peril respectively. Both teams are unbeaten after 10 games with Rollers occupying pole position after accumulating 28 points. ECCO are two points adrift.

Rollers got a scare on Saturday night before coming from a goal down to beat minnows, Miscellaneous 3-1. The defending champions face a resurgent Gaborone United (GU) in their next assignment.

ECCO crushed Black Peril 5-2 on Saturday to keep up pressure on the leaders. GU retained third position with a 2-1 victory over struggling BMC. They have collected 20 points from nine games. Santos seem to be on the recovery track after a poor start to the season. After losing influential players to Police XI, Santos struggled to maintain last season's form. Despite the suspension of Mogakolodi Ngele and Thato Bolweleng, Santos seem to be gaining momentum.

Meanwhile, the struggle at the bottom continues with minnows Motlakase losing 3-2 to Notwane. The loss leaves Motlakase firmly rooted at the bottom with just four points from 10 games. They have won only one game against neighbours, Miscellaneous. TASC's 3-3 draw against TAFIC in a Francistown derby has not helped much as they still find themselves in position 15 with six points.
