Fashion parade shows floral attire still the in-thing

Although the show started late, guests soon forgot about that as they were treated to an engaging display of fashionable items.

It must be mentioned that although some might have expected to see new trends in the fashion world it was not so.  As usual, floral dresses, skirts and blouses made a statement at the fashion show.

One can safely say the floral look and bright colours, which were made famous during the hippy era, are not going anywhere any time soon. The show also indicated that Afro-chic German prints decorated with silky ribbons are still in vogue this spring and many women are expected to be seen spotting them at wedding parties and evening events.  For men, stripped shirts made their appearance at the fashion show and this proves that theses items, which made a big comeback a few seasons ago, are still fashionable men's smart casual and formal wear.  Golf t-shirts are some of the items that refuse to go away and as a few seasons back, the upturned collar is still an in-thing. Needless to say, jeans and cargo pants still remain favourites among men this spring as proven at the fashion show. What is perhaps worth mentioning at this point is that the fashion show did not showcase the latest fashion trends across the world.

Like other southern African countries, Botswana is still looking at South African to see the fashion trends that country imports this season so that we follow suit.

One of the lovers of fashion, who attended the show, Isaac Okolong, was not happy that it started late, but he said that was compensated for by the 'great show' that followed.

'I would have loved to see more casual wear for men since it is hot,' he said.

Okolong further expressed disappointment at the poor attendance saying that it is high time Batswana started attending such events so as to have 'clean fun'.  Perhaps to spice up events like this, Madam Queen Modelling Agency should consider getting some local fashion designers aboard.
