Court to rule in land board forgery

It is alleged that Castro Kemohilwe Molefhe, 43, and Stephen Joseph Legodi, 42, acting jointly and in concert, on the date not known to the prosecution, forged a Tawana Land Board Certificate of Customary Land Grant in Maun purporting it to be a certificate issued to Legodi by the land board.

Molefhe works as a Tawana land board field assistant while Legodi works as an accountant.

It is alleged that the accused on September 2007 also uttered a forged land board certificate purporting it to be an original certificate issued to Legodi by the said land board.

Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman appeared before the Francistown Magistrates Court charged with corruption.

The accused, Khumoetsile Mooketsi, an Immigration Assistant in Francistown, corruptly accepted for herself, valuable consideration in the sum of P1,100 from one Sononyane Mogewu.

It is alleged that the said sum was given as a reward for issuing permits in the names of Chihota Hazel and Mlambo Catherine.

The permits are said to have been issued without following the laid down procedures.
