Ndingo undertakes Goledzwa tour

 

This is the time when the man popularly known as 'Satchilombe' is in his element.

Johwa undertakes the countrywide tour at the end of every year.  Johwa has already performed at places like Speak Easy beer garden in Tlokweng, Maun and Gantsi.  Last weekend he was in Selebi-Phikwe where he rocked the mining town.

On Saturday, Johwa will be performing at Toro Lodge in Kasane.  He also has shows lined up for Masunga, Sebina and Nkange.  He will be performing at Thapama Lodge in Francistown on New Year's Eve too.  Johwa said through these shows he wants to thank his followers who have been supporting him throughout the years.

Johwa promises to blow a storm during his concerts.  He said when he is performing he always ensures that he gives the people what they want.  'As a musician, you cannot be happy if your audience is not happy,' he said.  

Johwa will be accompanied by other local musicians during his shows. 

He said those who attended the recent Domboshaba festival would have noticed one of his backing musicians, Mbudzi Mbili.  He said revellers should look forward to awesome performances by the upcoming youngster.

Johwa, who has always spiced up his music with poetry, will be joined on stage by two poets.  Some notable poets who have featured in his songs include Albert Malikongwa.

He explained that during the concerts, he would also be featuring songs from his forthcoming album such as Wa Tema, Danigwa and Khombisiwa. 

He would also incorporate Ikalanga music styles like Hosanna, Ntazola and even choral songs. 

Johwa will also be shooting a DVD during his tours.  One of the most respected local musicians, Johwa has amassed a number of awards through his music.  At some stage he scooped the Orange Botswana Artist of the Year award, walking away with P10, 000.  In 2008, he was the runner-up in the Annual Presidential music competitions.  He was presented with a P22, 500 cheque for his efforts.

Johwa is also a recipient of a presidential honour in recognition to his contribution to local music.

He has mentored many local musicians, including Vee.  He is in fact the one who introduced Vee to the studio.  Other prominent artists who have backed Johwa include Nono Siile and Lister Boleseng.
