Miss Earth Botswana shines in Vietnam

There are six preliminary competitions organised for the beauties compared to four in the previous years.  The competitions are talent, national costume, Ao Dai (Vietnamese dress), long gown, golf, and swim suit.

Gaopalelwe has, however, performed exceptionally in most of them.

On November 9 she participated in the talent competition where she emerged sixth out of 84 participants.  The eventual winner for the talent show was Nicole Faria from India.   Gaopalelwe was a top-40 finalist in the Ao Dai competition that was won by Serbia's Tijana Rakik on November 17. Her biggest achievement was, however, on November 18 in a golf competition where she finished second.

Miss Earth Botswana organiser, Beatrice Barrows, said she is pleased by the way Gaopalelwe has performed thus far.  She said before leaving for Vietnam, Gaopalelwe planted 30 trees in Selebi-Phikwe.  She said she also participated in a press conference in Vietnam.

'We hope for the best for her,' she said.

Gaopalelwe left Botswana early this month to take part in the pageant's preliminary rounds before the grand finale to be held on December 4 in the city of Vinpearl Land, Nha Trang.  The pageant's pre-judging is scheduled for December 2.  The theme for this year's pageant is: 'Water' and 84 women from across the globe will be contesting for the coveted crown.

Barrows said the voting lines for Miss Photogenic are open.  She said the voting lines will close on November 30 and urged Batswana to vote in large numbers.

'Voting can be done on the Miss Earth website at www.missearth.tv.  On the home page, click Miss Photogenic voting, then click on the dot below Gaopalelwe's picture.  Scroll down and click submit your vote,' she said.
