Rapper, Eve's Harare show cancelled

Media reports in Zimbabwe early this week reported that  the rapper, who has sold over 5 million copies of her first  three albums, will be performing in Harare alongside another rapper, T-Pain, enroute to Gaborone.

However, yesterday Olivier Prentout told Showbiz the Harare show has been cancelled, and that there is no additional superstar for the Gaborone show, billed for November 27.

Prentout, also known as OP, says Eve is currently performing in Australia, and will be flying to Botswana from there.

In Botswana, the rapper is scheduled to perform alongside a hosts of local performers, Vee, Ski, Scar, Shanti Lo, Stampore, Zeus, Juju Boy, DI Boogie Sid and Timmy, with all the proceeds going to charity.

Eve become the first top US rap celebrity to visit Botswana's shores.

In recent times, Gaborone has welcomed rappers  such as Will Power and Omar.

Will Power, who also had a tour of Botswana, was here courtesy of the American Embassy in Gaborone early this yearfor the launch of anti-HIV rap CD and DVD sponsored by the Embassy for over half a million Pula.

Omar, on the other hand was here some three weeks ago, courtesy of Lekoko entertainment, as he performed alongside Hip Hop Pantsula, of South Africa.  Omar would later record a track with local rapper, Scar at a studio in Mochudi.

Eve, however, marks the first ever tour of Botswana by a rap celebrity.

She is both a popular rapper and Hollywood star.  But she is not without controversy having made news early this year as the US media reported that she was being investigated in a money laundering scandal that embarrassingly made its way into the Senate
