'I had no idea Magdaline would make a powerful singer'

'I knew she was good in leading songs in our traditional group at school, but we continued to live together as lovers and friends years after and we never discussed music projects.  In fact, I was the crazy one when it came to music, but I kept it to myself, until Thembeni Ramosetlheng, popular for leading one of the hit songs, Borikhirikhi, in their hit album, Kulenyane.

'One day I just decided to take him along for the recording of the debut album, Korone, which we did in Zimbabwe.  It was unbelievable, but her talent was never a motivation for our love in the beginning because I didn't know it existed,' said Mogwe who this festive season is cashing in on the hot-selling song, Matebele, in their special project Ekentolo.

Matebele is performed by Magdaline, under the new name, Charma gal, which she adopted last year when her versatility in other genres other than borankana was well-received thanks to the hit song, Chika, also performed by Magdaline.

'Our relationship was not based on her super talent, like me, she also loved me when I was a simple boy who knew no fame; we lived in a humble environment together in Kasane.   But I am very, very happy now with her (Magdaline).  Every man wants a beautiful woman who is talented, and successful like Magdeline.

I thank God that I see everything in her, who will dare look the other way,. I have long made my intentions known to my parents that she is the wife, we will marry, don't worry,' Mogwe said, amid rumours that his relationship with the highly-talented woman was over.

'Those rumours have been flying about, but they are untrue.  We trust each other, maybe that is why we are not always seen together in public.

We may be tested, but we can't be shaken,' said Mogwe who, however, has not indicated when exactly he will wed his long-time lover.
