'Hand of God' sneaks Merafhe into parliamentary committees

Lobatse MP Nehemiah Modubule was adamant that the final draft of the revised Standing Orders excluded the Leader of House, from sitting in select committees. He demanded answers on how the 'Hand of God' sneaked Merafhe into the committees when Parliament never agreed on the matter. This argument forced the Speaker, Margaret Nasha to call an urgent all party caucus to discuss the matter, over which both the ruling party and opposition MPs were united. The question that still haunted many MPs was who was behind the sneaking in of Merafhe into parliamentary committees.

The Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Lesego Motsumi tried to intervene, explaining the Standing Orders but her efforts bore no fruit.

Nobody cared about her remarks as MPs agreed to adjourn to discuss the matter which should be resolved within three days for the Standing Orders to apply. At the time of going to press it was not clear whether the VP would be removed from the select committees.
