BMC wallops Santos

Wendambai headed home from a Kgetholetsile rebound in the 17th minute to open the score.

But Enos Mmesi and his charges had to wait until the 59th minute when Kgetholetsile finshed a Tshepo Maikano cross from the right and make it 2-0 putting the second one past former teammate Chenjerai 'Pastor' Dube.

Santos could have netted first  in the first minute when Jacky Mothatego's curling corner kick gave Cosmos Lombala problems but Kgetholetsile arrived just in time to avert disaster.

Santos kept on mounting pressure  through captain Godfrey Ngele and Boitshoko Zikhale putting Alex Matshameko and Omphemetse Molapo in BMC defence under tremendous pressure. However, BMC  would later cope with what their counterparts threw at them, launching counter-attacks in the process resulting in Keeagile Kobe creating chance  for Mwendambai in the 16th minute. However, with goal keeper Dube seemingly in limbo, the burly Zambian forward shot straight at him when an easy chip over the keeper would have done the job.

Santos seemed to be in a hurry to find the equaliser and were often guilty of fluffing their chances as they moved in haste. With Santos 1-0 down from the break, it was BMC who came out of the dressing room with guns blazing and Mwendambai was unlucky to hit the cross bar after a good supply from Motsholetsi Sikile in the 52nd minute.

Three minutes later Sikele combined well with  Kobe but  his final shot was a let down. Dube was called upon once more in the 60th minute to make two fine saves in quick succession as BMC piled pressure searching for a third goal.

But Santos rose to the occasion in the last 20 minutes pushing their opponents to the limit with Thapelo Sethebete, Zikhale and Ngele cutting the BMC defence into pieces but once again poor finishing was the characteristic of their game.
