We Must Beat Santos-Kalambo

'We are going to win that game. We have to [win] even if it was against Township Rollers or whoever because we cannot afford to lose anymore. We just cannot carry on like this,' Kalambo told Sport Monitor.

The Zambian coach admitted that his team was disappointing against GU and that he is now worried about the fact that problems keep shifting from one department to another.

'Our problem has now shifted to defence where we have been stable. We conceded easy goals. Our defence was just not functioning. From here, I have to go and start afresh and it is the same thing every week with us,' he lamented.

Kalambo explained that he keeps changing his playing personnel because he is still trying to find the winning combination. 'It is a gamble because we are not winning and you try hoping to hit a jackpot somewhere because the same players who are not playing well could get injured and those you have not tried will be like completely new to the team,' he said.

While GU fans who watched their team beat BMC went home jubilant, coach Mike Sithole was not entirely satisfied with his charges' overall performance.

'Yes we got the maximum points which is the most important thing in any game but I am not satisfied with the way we play. We still tend to miss a lot of chances, we lost a host of them in the first minutes of the game and wasted many in the second half.

'We build up very well and break the opponents' defences but the last touch is a problem,' Sithole said.

Although he felt his defence did fairly well against BMC, he said that he was worried in some instances when they left the opponents to come at them. He said he was especially worried about Gobonyeone Selefa's performance.

'I do not want to single him out but definitely he gains the ball and gives it away cheaply. I do not know if this is because he was fatigued from Zebras or what. But it is not the kind of performance that I had expected from a player like him,' he said.

Sithole said that there were moments when his midfield looked disjointed and that they need to play as a unit if they are to win the league.'So I have to congratulate my players after winning like this but we cannot ignore the fact that in future, other opponents can take advantage of our weaknesses,' he said.
