Rollers Recover Against Minnows

Defending be MOBILE Premier League champions, Township Rollers, came from a goal down to overcome minnows Miscellaneous 3-1 on Saturday evening. Rollers scored three goals in nine minutes after falling behind to substitute Innocent Siku's 58th minute strike.

The Miscellaneous' defence marshalled by Letlhogonolo Morake and Kagiso Molapi should be commended for keeping Rollers' marauding duo of captain Joel Mogorosi and Sekhana Koko at bay throughout the first half. Rollers mounted numerous attacks from the first whistle resulting in five corners in the opening 10 minutes, but the Miscellaneous' defence stood its ground.

Credit should be given to Miscellaneous' goalkeeper, Letlhogonolo Selebogo, who had a splendid game, denying Mogorosi and Onalethata Tshekiso on several occasions. The two sides went for recess still locked at 0-0. After the break, Miscellaneous caught Rollers on the counter-attack and goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe failed to clear the ball in a 50-50 situation resulting in the first goal.

Realising time was not on their side, the log leaders continued piling pressure for an equaliser but they kept firing blanks till the 73rd minute. The goal finally came when Simisane Mathumo connected in Koko's neat cross from the left.

Koko scored in the second six minutes later from a seemingly offside position but referee Tebogo Ramocha let the goal stand as Miscellaneous fumed. The evergreen Mogorosi made it 3-1 with a brilliant header in the 82nd minute to maintain the momentum and cement Rollers' position at the summit of the log.

Miscellaneous' coach, Mogomotsi Mpote said that he was happy with his charges' performance even though the officiating on the day was not up to scratch.

'I had a plan for them (Rollers) and it worked out well, we should have at least got a point from this game but the officiating was questionable,' he said.

Rollers' coach, Wesley Mondo congratulated his boys for fighting to the final whistle. 'I think we are on top of our game at the moment. We never stopped playing after they scored and the goals came. I am happy we got all the points,' he said.
