Poor Sound Mars Splash Festival

Not even the 'BOSS', Dan Tshanda or Dalom Kids, could escape the effects of the poor sound with the Splash ace producer and lead vocalist forced on more than one occasion to interrupt his own performance as the engineers tried to fine-tune the sound system. Initially it was planned that live DVD would be shot during the subsequent show at Molapowabojang, but Tshanda told Showtime that due to the poor sound quality of the sound system they had hired, such plans would now be shelved.

Donald Botshelo aka Don B, who is one of the crowd pullers at Splash shows, also wishes to forget the lousy performance he had, thanks to poor sound as the sound engineer failed to make the instruments blend, thus creating 'a noise' rather than a good melody.

Don B recently announced he had fallen out with Splash, revelations that prompted Splash leader Tshanda to come to Gaborone and tell the media that everything was fine between him and Don B.

Meanwhile, Don B's silk voice disco performance had to be interrupted by his boss Tshanda just after five minutes on stage as the ace producer tried in vain to fine-tune things to the fans' satisfaction.

However, Botshelo would later carry on with performances of his popular songs like Bana Ba Di Dot Com, Baby Girl and Bakgatla despite the poor sound much to the disappointment of his fans who felt let down by the sound engineering problem.

Only Table Madiba escaped in his opening performance thanks to lip-synching.  Things sounded better, however, when Peacock (Mpendulo Dandile) got on stage as the sound improved and all was in great harmony.

His lively stage performance also seemed to overshadow the negatives.  The stocky musician managed to impress the clearly worried crowd with numbers like Amachance, Nozukile, Dumazile and Mafohloza.  Fans were not amused when that yesteryear disco star, Esther M, took to the stage, perhaps just wondering, 'who is this one?', but it was her all-time hit track, Loss Matheka, that seemed to remind the revellers of the lanky musician.

The backing band had clearly rehearsed for the veteran musician who still has the energy of a youngster.  Thando Zinto, Nicholus Tjale, Msizi Madiba, Stanley Tshiloane, and Enock Nkosi did well on the instruments for Dalom Music's new signing who is looking to revive her career at Tshanda's stable.

It was an unfortunate moment for gospel starlet Slindile as she perfumed only two items due to ill-health.  It was her first live performance having featured at the group's previous shows playing only a CD, but it all turned sour for her when she had to be supported off stage after she appeared to have worsened her situation by singing.

But make no mistake her hit debut track U Yinkosi just sent fans wild, in a way that none of the artists before her had done and clearly people were disappointed when she left so early into her performance.
