Moupo plans political education

Moupo was BNF president from 2003 to July this year. He has kept a low profile ever since he lost an opportunity to defend his parliamentary seat last year and after he declined to stand again as BNF president. However, he says he has been active at the regional level. 'I continue to be active in the BNF's MASEBO (Mmadinare, Selebi-Phikwe and Bobirwa) region where I will intensify political education and sell the party ideology to the masses,' he says.

He expects his political education trips to land him in neighbouring northern and north central regions. 'It can help a lot in reviving the fortunes of the BNF especially during these hard times when there are so many challenges to grapple with.'

In his endeavour to legitimise his political education campaigns, Moupo says he recently spoke to BNF's secretary for political education, Sam Digwa about his initiatives. 'I have informed him that I am available and he has since been given the go ahead.'

From time to time, Moupo will be taking assignments allocated him by the BNF central committee. He has told his successor as BNF president, Duma Boko that he is available to be assigned any duties.

Moupo is a prolific writer and an avid reader wants to venture into the world of publishing books. 'In future, I want to venture into publishing and I am working on a major research for a book entitled economic history of Botswana,' he says. 'The book will try to characterise the specificity of the development of capitalism in Botswana.

In the tradition of the BNF, we have to understand this reality in order to transform it,' he says and added that it could be a five-year project.

Moupo has written a pamphlet on party organisation, which he wants to enlarge and ultimately publish as a book. Before Moupo relocated to Gaborone to become Gaborone West North MP he was based in Selebi-Phikwe. For many years, he practiced law in Selebi-Phikwe and Gaborone. Speculation is rife that the politician is gearing to revive his practice by regularising with the Law Society of Botswana.
