Oh please rescue us from this P10 note

These notes exchange many hands so the material used in them should be tough and durable to resist wear and tear.

When the money was put in circulation last year, just a few weeks before the general election, there was a public outcry about the poor quality of the material and its appearance. As usual nobody cared to listen.

While the appearance is not such a big issue because people can always get used to it, the material really must be replaced as a matter of urgency.

The P10 note is a disaster because it has proven that it cannot withstand the many hands it goes through daily. Both the poor and the rich exchange this note almost every hour. It has failed to stand the test of time.

This has resulted in conflicts between members of the public because some people refuse to accept the money when it is in bad shape.

Taxi drivers refuse to accept the money when it is in bad condition whilst passengers refuse to accept their change when the P10 note is included.

We understand that the money could have been introduced at a crucial time when elections were approaching and there was pressure from somewhere to put the face of the Head of State in one of the notes - P10.

Elections have passed, and the winners will be in power for the next three years while the P10 continues to traumatise the nation. We appeal to those with powers to consider redoing the above-mentioned notes, especially the P10 note as a matter of urgency.

It needs tough material to withstand the many hands it goes through on an hourly basis. There is no need to change the appearance of the note. Just use better material.

This would save the nation the cost of having to replace the notes that can't stay in circulation for at least two months.

We appreciate that the country has set aside many important projects because of the recent global financial meltdown but to lose huge sums of money replacing notes that are in circulation is not only na•ve but irritating. Do something before the nation incurs further unnecessary expenses.
