Krol keen to keep 'idle' Mongala

The speedy winger has been sidelined at Pirates but the coach has said at the moment he will stay put at the club. So far, Mongala has watched most Premier League action from the terraces this season. He recently opened up saying he was considering a loan move away from the Soweto giants, with his gripe being lack of game time.

However, his Dutch mentor is not thinking of letting him go as yet. Krol believes Mzambiya is talented enough to fight his way into the Buccaneers team. 'I cannot say I will loan him out right now, he is a good player and we need him at Pirates. It is all up to him to continue working hard, you never know what will happen - this is football,' said an evasive Krol.

Despite the fact that the coach seemingly believes in the Kanye-born star, the player is yet to taste Premiership action this season following the arrival of Daine Klate from Supersport United.

Then there is Tlou Segolela and Mark Mayambela, who joined the club from Bloemfontein Celtic. The closest Mongala came to seeing action was warming the bench when Pirates fell 1-0 to Mpumalanga Black Aces late last month. Since then, he has not featured for the Sea Robbers. However, Krol speaks highly of the 25-year-old's attitude at training.

'He has a good attitude at training, he is a very hardworking player,' he said.

Mongala has been instrumental for the Zebras in the current Africa Cup of Nations campaign in spite of the minimal club game time.

National team coach, Stanley Tshosane, has repeatedly echoed his worries over the player's inactivity at club level. But Krol responded that if Tshosane is unhappy about the player's idleness, he is willing to engage in discussions with him on the way forward.

'If the national team coach is worried about his lack of game time, he should call me then we can discuss,' said Krol.

Mongala is in his second season with Pirates.
