Pontsho tips Dirang to excel at Vasco

Dirang joined the Premiership newcomers at the beginning of the season but was sidelined because of work permit delays until early last month.

He made his debut when he came on as a substitute a fortnight ago against champions Supersport who have another Botswana international Diphetogo Selolwane in their books. Dirang played a blinder when his side fell 1-0 to log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, last week.

His elder brother, who had a stint with South Africa's First Division side Bay United last season, has no doubt that he is yet to dish out his best. 'He has a bright future in South Africa. He is presently playing for a small team but with regular time on the field, he might join a bigger club,' Pontsho told Mmegi Sport.

'I talk to him almost every day and he tells me that everybody in the team is happy about his performances.'Pontsho watched his brother in action in the two games that he has played and feels Dirang impressed in his second half introduction against SuperSport. 'I honestly think he had a great debut as a substitute. In the last game (against Sundowns), he was a marvel to watch, he fought hard for the team, retained possession, completed passes and they looked dangerous every time he had the ball. He had a great game.'

The senior Moloi urged his 24-year-old brother to work hard because he is yet to book a permanent starting berth at the club. 'Dirang needs to be smart and continue working hard because there is competition in the midfield,' he said.Dirang is excited about his progress at the club, but is quick to admit that resting on his laurels, following the two appearances, would be folly. The Cape side boasts of seven midfield stars including former Orlando Pirates' duo of Lebogang Mothibantwa and Joseph Kamwendo, Ajax Cape Town product, Cole Alexander and former Santos' midfielder, Jonathan Armogam.
