Phakalane Estates in talks with Sunway City

 

Sunway City Pvt Ltd is a real estate and property development company that is currently developing Sunway City Residential Park, Sunway City Industrial Park and Export Processing Zone Park just outside Harare. Nhlanhla Masuku, Sunway City consultant, said they identified Phakalane Estates as possible partners that suit their kind of business.

'We identified them and now we are in discussions. We believe going forward there could be a strategic partnership,' said Masuku, who was part of a 20-member delegation that visited Botswana last week.

Masuku said they visited Botswana this month and saw the work that is being done by Phakalane Estates.

They then invited the Botswana-based company to come over and see the work that Sunway City is involved in.

'We are waiting for the coming of Phakalane Estates at the beginning of next month,' Masuku said.

Phakalane Estates is the owner of Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel Resort and Phakalane Properties and is involved in a wide array of activities such as Commodity Trading, Estate Development, Project Finance and Management as well as Infrastructure Development.

Masuku said Sunway City also identified Prolific Design Consulting Engineering company in Botswana, which has SADC rights for vacuum sewerage system as opposed to the gravity system.

He said they are also expecting Prolific Design Consulting Engineering to be in the country by the first week of December.

The Botswana government has been promised $1,2 billion by the African Development Bank to diversify its economy, which is more into beef and diamonds, to other sectors such as property development and manufacturing.

Sunway City Industrial Park is located 6,5km from Harare International Airport and it is also the junction of a regional road and rail network that connects to the port of Beira in Mozambique. Sunway Residential Park is situated 18km along the Harare -Mutare Road opposite Zimre Park.

Sunway City Pvt Ltd is also working on infrastructural development projects for water augmentation and supply, road networking and electrification projects in its parks near Harare.

There are two 5, 000-square metre tanks. One of them is complete and the other is 80 percent complete. A 500 cubic metre gravity tank to augment water pressure is also under construction.-(Newsday)
