They will be fired - Tsimako

Addressing a press conference held at Police Headquarters in Gaborone, Tsimako, cautioned drivers from 'dangling temptations that are hard to resist to officers' when caught on the roads.

Tsimako was announcing the 60 Days of Action to curb road accidents so as to reduce the number of people who die on the roads.

'It takes two to tango and such officers have no place in the police force. People must report quickly when asked for a bribe by an officer. All those who were reported and found guilty have been dismissed from work,' Tsimako revealed.

He stated that the drivers are the ones who misleed the officers and tempt them with bribes.

'Both the receiver and the giver are guilty in this case and if caught for trying to bribe an honest officer one will face the wrath of the law. Drivers must not rush to dangle something irresistible in front of traffic officers,' Tsimako said, adding that there are no first offenders for traffic.
