Comets cling to top spot

The Jwaneng side should partly thank Prisons XI for holding second-placed Killer Giants to a 0-0 draw on Sunday. Comets are now two points ahead of Killer Giants.

Comets' coach, Oris Radipotsane, has said that his aim is to finish the first round in the top four. He fumed last week when his team drew 1-1 with Young Strikers in Gaborone. He claimed that Young Strikers' goal went in through the side-netting. But that was almost forgotten when Comets won 3-2 against Mathaithai. The road looks tough [and rough] ahead for Mogoditshane Fighters who drew 1-1 with fellow former Premier League side, Naughty Boys, last Saturday. Masitaoka who started the season well before hitting a bad patch, shocked Letlapeng 1-0.

After a good performance last season which saw them qualify for the promotion play-offs, Letlapeng are struggling this season. The experience of Donald Mopako, Sox Molwantwa and David Mfolwe has done little to help their cause. Queens Happy Hearts, who entered the First Division amid much fan fare are finding the going tough and might make an immediate return to the Second Division. Last weekend, Mochudi Buffaloes were ruthless, thumping the Barry Daka-coached outfit 4-1. Happy Hearts are struggling despite the fact that they have the experience of two former national team players Nelson 'Viola' Gabolwelwe and Ernest Amos. Apart from the shock defeat of Letlapeng early in the season, Happy Hearts have not been convincing and are now languishing at the bottom of the log. Kanye Swallows are a team on the rise. They did not have the best starts to their maiden season in the First Division but lately, they have shown signs of improvement. The latest being 4-0 win at home over Young Strikers. Although they did not play an entertaining game against Young Strikers, Swallows were more resourceful with the few chances they created which left their fans happy and hopeful of the future.

Strikers on the other hand did not appear like they would ever recover, and with frustration written all over coach Moshe 'Killer' Dipatane's face, it was obvious the young boys lacked inspiration. The result saw Swallows move to position seven on the log while Strikers remained 10th, just one place above Happy Hearts.
