Nare denies BMC link

Instead, the flamboyant Under-23 mentor has said he will not join any team until the New Year. Nare parted ways with Gunners on Monday, ending a four-year relationship with the Peleng boys. He was immediately linked with a move to cross town rivals, BMC, but he has since refuted the allegations.

'It is true that I have resigned from Gunners but I cannot divulge the reasons,' he said. 'But I am not resigning to join BMC. We should respect the set up that is at BMC.

They have a coach (Enos Mmesi) and I am not willing to take his job. Rumours about me joining BMC are not true and should be treated as just that,' Nare told Mmegi Sport yesterday. He said that no one at BMC has ever approached him about a job offer and has not spoken to anyone about joining the side. He said between now and Christmas, he would spend time with his family and looking at his other business interests.

He said he would sit down with his family in January and see if he would return to coaching. 'For now I do not know what the future holds but I will continue to assist with Re Ba Bona Ha projects in and around Lobatse.

I did well at Gunners and I will see what offers come on the table in January and take it from there,' he said. He said he faxed the letter of resignation on Monday afternoon to the club's management although he never received acknowledgement of receipt of the letter.

However, chairman Keorapetse Kgasa confirmed receipt of the letter on a local radio station on Wednesday.

He said the executive committee had accepted Nare's resignation. 'I have had very good four years at the club. The only regret is that I left before my contract expired,' Nare said. He had just signed a new two-year contract at the beginning of the season.

He said he feels privileged to have played for Gunners at some point and being able to coach them. He thanked the management for affording him the opportunity to coach such a big club. 'I will miss my players very much.

I will miss our days in the dressing room,' he added. He also took time to thank supporters who have been with the team through thick and thin.

'Gunners made me the coach I am today and I saw my star shine very brightly under them.

I managed to go to the national Under-23 because of what I did at Gunners,' he said. Nare is one of the local coaches attending a week-long coaching course at Lekidi Football Centre in Gaborone.
