Winter break good news!

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development has finally revealed that they are at an advance with a possible plan of releasing pupils/students during winter.

Speaking to Mmegi yesterday, the Permanent Secretary Ruth Maphorisa said that the ministry WILL soon be concluding the matter with a presentation to the Cabinet for approval.

'We have something in place to be implemented next year, it is only that we have to announce it to the Cabinet first before making the details public,' Maphorisa said.  She explained that whether the summer schooling has been increased or not the bottom line is that they have to meet the 182 minimum days for teaching as stipulated in the Education Act.

'You must know that this was a motion from Parliament and we are trying to implement that,' she said. However, some unconfirmed reports from the MoE have revealed that the students will be breaking for six weeks, the last two weeks of June and the rest of July.

This breakthrough is a plus for the Lobatse legislator Nehemiah Modubule who tabled the motion a few years ago.
