Top 16 selected for Miss Botswana finale

The fashion show saw 25 Miss Botswana aspirants battling for the 15 places reserved for the beauties set to battle it out at the finale.

The show kicked off with an electrifying performance by Kgotla 'Juju Boy' Ntsima of Hurt Me fame. As always, Juju Boy did not disappoint with his sexually suggestive lyrics that have won him myriads of young fans. The trendy artist  showed again that he is one of the greatest forces to reckon with in the local music industry.

After Juju Boy's engaging performance, he made way for the contestants who paraded in casual wear, clad in black shorts and white T-shirts that showcased their well-sculpted bodies. There was plenty of local talent as some of My African Dream (MAD) aspirants performed after the parade. By the look of things, one can say that Botswana has got talent as the MAD finalists really impressed the audience, especially Flexiville who also took part in the show last year.

The organisers of the Miss Botswana extravaganza should be commended for helping unearth young talent by giving youngsters such a platform. One of the leading rappers in this country, Game 'Zeus' Bantsi also made an appearance that left many panting for more. Zeus proved his mettle as one of Botswana's top performers. At some point he shared the stage with another rapper, Ralph 'Stagga' Williams III who later also performed solo.

The beauties were later paraded in a casual wear range from Woolworths. The range that included sportswear, vuvuzelas and large sunglasses was most certainly inspired by the FIFA World Cup that will be staged in neighbouring South Africa next month.

Revellers could not restrain themselves from dancing as the popular South African Jozi, comprising Lesley Mampe and Ishmael Morabe, better known as Da L.E.S, and Ish respectively performed. The South Africans did a good job performing a good number of tracks including their hit song Muthaland.

One could say entertainment at the fashion show was fabulous and that although Jozi was most certainly used as a draw-card, the local musicians showed that they are a force to be reckoned with, especially Zeus and Juju Boy.One of the locals who was scheduled to perform, Kabelo 'K-Boss' Motlhatlhedi was nowhere to be seen and no explanation was offered.

As the night belonged to the girls, they took to the stage again as they paraded locally designed evening wear. The moment of reckoning arrived as the number of was trimmed to 16 beauties and the following made it: Kagiso Letlhare, Naledi Moshoshoe, Emma Wareus, Maungo Mosinyi, Tsitsi Ngobeni, Gape April, Kemogetse Moganetsi, Lerang Owczarek, Kgomotso Ramongalo, Norah Mphoeng, Keletso Tselayakgosi, Bonny Serole, Jacqueline Sesa, Nicole Gaelebale, Kaone Monamodi and Naledi Tomtom.
