Chiefs to fire Mondo?

Sources said the management is not happy with the coach's tactics after the club failed to win silverware for the second season in a row.

The Zambian coach was blamed for the team's loss to rivals, Township Rollers in the Coca-Cola Cup final.

Despite making a great start to the game by taking an early lead, Rollers re-grouped after half time and went on to clinch their second title this season.

Some sections of supporters could be heard over the weekend blaming Mondo for the cup loss especially for his decision to pull out midfielder, Dirang Moloi.

But Chiefs' spokesperson Clifford Mogomotsi denied the speculations and explained that nothing has been discussed. He said the season is not yet over as they still have to play their last league game against Motlakase, which if they win, they will secure a second place finish.

He said they would only sit down and map the way forward at the end of the season after assessing the coach's report.

He, however said as a team, they are disappointed for not winning any silverware this season as it is a sign that they have not improved on last year's performance.

Mondo could feel hard done if Chiefs decide to part ways with him, as it is only his first season at the club.

Despite not winning any silverware, he has not performed badly, losing only four games, three in the league and the Coca-Cola Cup final. Mondo joined Chiefs this season, replacing fellow Zambian, Beston Chambeshi who has since returned to his homeland.

He still has a year left on his contract with Chiefs.
