Play-offs start tomorrow

The winner of the play-offs, to be played on a round robin basis, will be promoted to the Premier League.

The much-anticipated derby between Ramotswa sides Letlapeng and Killer Giants will set the ball rolling at the Molepolole Sports Complex at 7pm. The match will see Ramotswa split into two as the rivals go at each other.

Killer Giants made a last minute sensational recovery to book a place in the play-offs. They were rooted at the bottom of the log with three games left but a surprise 2-0 defeat of Gaborone United (GU) kick-started a late surge. In the next game, Killer Giants defeated TAFIC 2-1 before winding their maiden campaign with a shock 3-1 win over Uniao Flamengo Santos who were chasing second position. Captain, Donald Mopako has been in  inspirational form and is expected to lead from the front during the play-offs. Letlapeng, who pushed First Division South champions, Black Peril until the last day, will be eager to taste Premier League action. Letlapeng could have been promoted if they had defeated Black Peril in the last fixture of the season, but could only manage a 1-1 draw.  On Saturday, Killer Giants lock horns with TASC at the same venue before the Francistown side plays Letlapeng on Sunday. The reverse fixtures will be played on the weekend of June 4-6 in Selebi-Phikwe.

Meanwhile, the PLC will today release the nominees for this year's be MOBILE Premier League awards to be held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on June 5, general manager Phuthego Setete said yesterday. He said that they were still waiting for some teams to submit their nominees, which they were expected to do by yesterday. Two awards have already been taken with Terrence Mandaza winning the Green Boot after scoring 31 league goals while Township Rollers are the league champions.
