Mmolotsi trashes BDP central committee

'I hear that my hearing is billed for today (Thursday). This committee is a Kangaroo Court and comprises of people that I know would lack objectivity when dealing with me in particular,' said Mmolotsi, who is associated with the newly formed Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD).

Mmolotsi's offence is attending a recent Barata-Phathi meeting in Mogoditshane where the birth of BMD was discussed against the wishes of the BDP leadership.

Without mentioning names, the Francistown South legislator says one of the disciplinary committee members stood against him in the BDP primaries and lost.

'There are others who are known to be dishonest and therefore, don't expect them to be honest when (you are) dealing with them.

It's still fresh in our memories that one of them was implicated in a case of stock theft just before the elections,' stressed the MP.

He says the other member of the disciplinary committee 'was imprisoned for stealing by public servant whilst one of his colleagues unsuccessfully defended himself in a court of law for stealing BDP funds donated by a German donor'.

The worried Mmolotsi said within the BDP disciplinary committee there is a man who came to Francistown to investigate him and later gave the central committee what he called a 'cooked' report.

'Yet another member of this committee is being investigated for deliberately reducing his age by almost five years so that he could continue benefiting unduly from some services.

The last one, we had factional encounters during all my days as a party member and as such I don't expect any fair deal from them'.

Mmolotsi was steadfast: 'I want to show them how dirty they are. They will have to a thorough introspection and see if they are the right people for the job'.

He wondered: 'Can they discipline or be disciplined?' He challenges the disciplinary committee to show if there is Godliness in whatever they are doing.

The youthful legislator also highlighted that all the disciplinary committee members but two contested the BDP primary elections and lost.

'We then wait for the public to take action against those who want to reap where they did not sow,' he concluded.Asked if indeed the BDP disciplinary committee was 'discredited and dirty' as Mmolotsi indicated, BDP executive secretary, Comma Serema said: 'We have all the confidence in our disciplinary committee. They are members of the party in good standing'.

Serema further wondered why Mmolotsi was raising such sentiments today when he is facing a disciplinary hearing and goes to the length of discrediting the committee.

'What we can advise him is that while he is pointing a finger at the disciplinary committee, the rest of his fingers are pointing at him,' suggested Serema.
