BMD Skypes And Twitters, Even Goes Facebook

This seems to be working wonders for the new party evidenced in the massive attendance, especially the youth, at the party's inaugural convention at Letlhabile Primary School in Gaborone on Saturday.  Since the announcement of the new party last month, they have been all over social networking sites, especially 'Facebook' where they created a group which continues to rope in members. Even the party's membership application forms have slots where members can fill in their social networking site address, among them Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Skype. The party is reportedly to be gaining a lot of popularity among overseas-based students and other Batswana as they can easily access information on the new party any time via the Internet.

People outside the country were able to view the progressions of the Saturday convention live on the Internet through Skype.  Even the set-up at the convention used top standard technology, with speakers projected on two big screens that were set on the walls of the fully packed hall.

The party logo was stylishly unveiled on a short video, much to the appreciation of the masses in attendance. An announcement was made at the convention that willing members can register online through the party website which was also launched last week and this will be a first for local politics.

The party website also provides the members with an opportunity to have a discussion on issues of interest within the party and to the nation at large for purposes of leaders to take the issues forward to relevant forums like the parliament or council.

A crew from the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and other international and local news agencies were present at the Saturday convention.
