No floor crossing yet in parliament

This comes after reports that a weekend meeting of members of the Barata-Phathi faction, had split from the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to form a new party. About 20 MPs were said to have joined this new party.

However this was not to be as all was normal, with Speaker of the National Assembly, Margaret Nasha opening the proceedings and making no major announcement.

While a number of MP's could be seen grouped at the Parliament compound, some were inside following the debate on the Industrial Property Bill, which was presented in December last year.

Random interviews with some MPs believed to be members of the new party did not bear any fruit as they claimed ignorance about it while others said they only learned about it in the media.
