Jazz DJs to perform at Millennium fund-raiser

Kebinatshwene, who is going to be installed on May 1, is a Gaborone socialiate and jazz enthusiast.   He is also a former official of Notwane Football Club and a well-known figure in the Gaborone circles.

The Sunday bash will feature jazz DJs Peter T, Milton, Vavo and SK of Duma fm.

Kebinatshwene is taking over from his father, Kgosi Loago Mareko Mosielele.  Kgosi Loago is the longest serving chief as he was installed in July 1952 after a stint in South African mines.  He had also served in different government departments.  He was draped with the leopard skin in 1957, having served with the likes of the late Kgosi Bathoen of Bangwaketse, Kgosi Linchwe of Bakgatla as well as the Bagwato Regent, Tshekedi Khama.  He also fought in World War II. He has been chief of Bafurutshe ba Manyana for 58 years.

According to the organisers, the preparations for the coronation and the handover ceremony are underway.  So far, members of the community have contributed 10 beasts to be slaughtered for the event.  This is not the first time that the Millennium Jazz Restaurant will hold a funding-raising event.  A fortnight ago, the restaurant  hosted  a tribute show for the late Afro jazz trumpeter, Jacob Mmusi.  Judging by the huge turnout at the event, the tribute show was a huge success.

In the past, Miss Millennium beauty queens have also organised fund-raising events for charity at the Millennium.  Tickets for the Sunday show will cost P30.  Advance tickets are available at the Millennium.
