Woman hangs herself in home

According to the station commander of Gerald Police Station, superintendent Motsholathebe Mothibi, the deceased was last seen on Sunday with a friend at a shebeen. The friend said they parted ways around eight in the evening and agreed that they would meet on Monday morning.

'The lady did not sleep at the place where she was staying with another friend and that friend left for work on Monday morning without seeing her,' Mothibi explained.

He said when the friend, who had been with her that evening came to check on her the next morning as they had agreed, she was greeted by a corpse hanging from the rafters of the room. The police officer added that both friends have testified that the deceased did not give any indication to either of them that she was entertaining thoughts of taking her own life. They however suspect that she might have had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend.

'The woman staying with her said she thought she was at a boyfriend's place that's why she did not bother to check on her whereabouts,' said Mothibi. However, Mothibi told Mmegi that they were still investigating the matter further so that they can figure out the reasons why the deceased decided to take her life. Besides not letting her intentions known, she did not leave a suicide note.
