Simply sensational

There was no single fault in the girl's vocal delivery, while her stage presence, rock 'n' roll costume, and stage act left many breathless.  Francois epitomises the quality of talent in this year's My Star show, there is a good variety of talent that announced itself right from the top 23 stage.

Traditionally this stage of My Star talent show is characterised by raw talent, which keeps improving as weeks go by.

There were many on the evening of the launch of the My Star Btv show, who signalled they will thrill the show's followers in their living rooms for weeks to come.

Forget about the likes of Oratile who, of course, represents the very raw talent in the early days of the show. She threw the hall into laughter with the mutilation of Rihanna's Russian Roulex.

But then that should not take away the shine from the likes of Kgalalelo, Charles, Lorato, Atamelang, Boitshepo, Ofentse, Mpho, Lizabeth, Dintle, Stephane, and Omphemetse, to name a few, who rocked.

It would seem the Btv viewers will be treated to a combination of comedy, dance, and singing from the naughty looking Atamelang, whose crazy stage act threw the hall into hilarious laughter as she perfumed Bon Jovi's Bed of Roses.

The My Star presenter Thabiso Nasha was so overwhelmed that he was tempted to call her back and congratulate her for her outfit, and guess who appeared on stage? a different contestant with an attitude, by the name of Boitshepo.

She swung her slender body around, flaunting her stylish attire with some cocksureness before delivering her Celine Dion's Think twice.

The girls in particular seemed to choose their costumes carefully to match with the pop stage they are trying to get themselves ready for. They looked so admirable one could mistake the event for a fashion show. The contestants' spectacular displays made up for what earlier seemed like a nightmare when the microphones failed the performers in the initial stages.

It was planed to be a huge night with a live band, and past My Star competition winners performing at the launch of this year's show.

Tebogo Tlhagadikgora, the 2008 winner, led the performances by previous My Star winners, with the audience waving to his two renditions from his My Star Album, although Kitso, the winner of the competition last year, could not be heard due to microphone hiccups.

Dineo, and Naledi, the two runners-up from last year, also had to struggle with the microphones on the evening.  In fact Dineo had to use her resonating voice to do a popular chorus in her song, Lover boy. Besides microphone hitches, the stage was well decorated for the launch of the song, with potential sponsors such as Nandos, BMC, Senn Foods, and Bokomo also in attendance.
