Elizabeth runs out of luck again

Master Dee gave the show a different twist when he announced to the jam-packed Botswana Television (Btv) auditorium that he was inviting Elizabeth to compete with the two potential evictees, but Elizabeth missed the 2010 stardom opportunity again.

A handful of those who were for the motion tried to prolong the commencement of the battle of vocals as they assured the audience that Elizabeth was on her way.

'Let us continue, she will come on stage if she makes it in time,' Master Dee said.

Though the men's performance continues to play second fiddle to that of their female counterparts and a hot subject on the judges' tongues Ishmael, the third potential evictee of the night, immediately walked backstage to resume the battle for a recording contract.

Boitshepho tried to sustain her days in the competition with the lines on No One, but the more popular Dintle with quite a stage presence showed her there was someone. It was an easy task for the judges when deciding who should continue breathing out her way to London except for Kgomotso who felt the duo were equally talented.

'It is hard for me to decide, you are both talented and I feel the show should continue without sending anyone of you home,' she said. She gave her vote to Boitshepho, who unfortunately and fortunately for Dintle  went home as Sid and Master Dee opted. Being the second My Star 2010 evictee, Boitshepho was unfortunate as that was the end of her voice to London. On the other hand as this year's competition from the women's department is no child's play.

Then the long night opened with a not so impressive performance by a handsomely dressed Charles who got the women cheering. But he received quite some encouraging remarks from the three judges. Later on, an angel in black appeared as Neo performed Hallelujah.

A commentator in the crowd was so mesmerised, heads turned as she said, o gaisa Master Dee; (she out-competes Master Dee). Giving her fans great expectations when she started the song with a hall-ee-luaaaa that could chase the devil in Lucifer the judges felt she was too comfortable when she heard the positive feedback from the audience.

A sizzling piece from Kgalalelo with Open Arms, with a pre-performance caution that the audience would be set in emotions followed, but was cut short by a technical hiccup when the Mariah Carey of the moment was giving her all to the audience, which without doubt has her voting number in their hearts. She got positive feedback from the trio of Master Dee, Kgomotso and Sid - which I think was not a make up for the impromptu flow of music.

Thusego nearly set the arena ablaze when she performed I Am Alive. 'Tonight you have proven to whoever had struck you off the competition that you are still a force to reckon with,' Kgomotso remarked. The cowgirl, alias Wacko Jacko (as the audience call her) appearance that Omphemetse showcased last weekend, was in offing again last Friday. Like most of her fellow contestants, the judges complained of poor execution of her lower notes. Not only did the auditorium swallow all types of voices in making way to the 2010 stardom, it could also be the right avenue for My Cut - as sizzling body types finely select what they wear to the making of a star.
