Women's soccer team face DRC

The finals of the tournament will be held in South Africa in September. Botswana coach, Gaoletlhoo Nkutlwisang told Mmegi Sport that her team's preparations have gone well and she is confident of victory.  She said the players are looking forward to the Sunday game though they do not know anything about their opponents. She believes that if they had had a chance to watch DRC, they would have prepared better.

Nkutlwisang said as part of their preparations, they played the boys' national Under-17 team as well as a University of Botswana (UB) select side. The women team comprises mostly Under-20 players who were recently involved in a number of international assignments.

Captain, Bonang Otlhagile said the coaches have done their homework and it is up to the players to do the job. She said they are all excited and looking forward to the Sunday game. She appealed to fans to come in large numbers to support them.

She promised they will not disappoint the nation. 'If they can come in large numbers, that will motivate us and we will double our effort,' she said. The winner over two legs will meet Cameroon in the next round.

Entry to the game is free of charge.
