Resurgent Santos eye second spot

Led by the Ngele brothers, Mogakolodi and Godfrey, Santos dislodged Extension Gunners from third spot and might leapfrog MochudiCentre Chiefs into second place if results go their way this weekend. Santos have 41points - just one behind second placed Chiefs.Tomorrow, Santos take on Gunners in Molepolole in what should be an interesting match. The first round tie ended 4-1 in favourof Gunners. It was a game in which Bernard Semakwezi ran rampant and scored four goals for Gunners.

The Zambian striker's form dipped soon after but he seems to have rediscovered his touch after scoring a brace against GU in Gunners' last league game.

Gunners will miss the services of young striker, Hendrick Moyo who received his marching orders in the 2-0 Coca-Cola Cup victory against ECCO City Greens last Sunday.

While Gunners are still chasing the Coca-Cola Cup, Santos were knocked out by Township Rollers and have only the league title to fight for. In another game tomorrow, Notwane and Boteti Young Fighters will be fighting for survival at Otse Police College. Despite winning convincingly against Chiefs, Notwane suffered a disappointing loss to Nico United last weekend.

Boteti on the other hand lost 2-1 at home to ECCO on Wednesday. On Sunday, Township Rollers will have an opportunity to consolidatetheir lead at the top when they meet resurgent BMC in Lobatse. At the time of going to press, Rollers were still playing Police XI at the UB Stadium last night. By current form, BMC stand no chance against Rollers on Sunday though they have proved recently that they are slowly getting back to shape. They drew 0-0 with BDF XI on Wednesday night in a game in which they deserved victory despite playing for more than an hour with 10 men when Phemelo Ditsile was sent off in the first half. He will be missed against Rollers as he and Kenanao Kgetholetsile have shown in the past few games that they are key to BMC's survival aspirations.

BMC will have to be tight at the back if they are to contain tricky Rollers' attackers.Terrence Mandaza, Edwin Moalosi and Joel Mogorosi have been in top form and if left unchecked, they can cause serious damage. Fresh from defeating Boteti 2-1, ECCO will host Motlakase in Francistown as Police XI welcome Jwaneng Comets at Otse Police College.

All the games kick off at 3.30pm. The potentially explosive tie between TAFIC and Mochudi Centre Chiefs was cancelled because of the Zebras' friendly against Namibia. A number of Chiefs' p l a y e r s are with the national s q u a d in Windhoek Namibia ,
