Culture Spears extend hand in MYAA campaign

Group leader Kabelo Mogwe says they be making their donation in conjunction with MYYA, the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) tomorrow, where the successful music band will also host a fun event, jumping castle for the children at the centre. Mogwe says they will hire the jumping castle and spend the day from 2pm-6pm playing ball games and jumping castle with the children.

The group would also have motivational talks with the children, as well as meeting the teachers at the centre, before proceeding to hold a concert in Jwaneng later in the evening.

Mogwe says the group decided to volunteer in line with this year's theme of the Month of Youth Against AIDS: Inspired, Motivated and Gifted. 'Traditionally, artists expect to be hired during these activities, but we decided to use this theme to make a meaningful contribution free of charge,' Mogwe said.

Acting coordinator at the Mpule Kwelagobe Centre Lorato Lekoba said the headman, district commissioner, magistrate and area councillor will grace the event.  Lekoba said the toiletry will go a long way to assisting the centre as usually procurement of the items by the town council takes a long time because of   red tape.

' Ideally it would have been better held on Saturday, but we understand the donation will also coincide with Culture Spears' concert in Jwaneng and Francistown, so we decided the event be moved to late in the afternoon, after school when all the children will have returned from school,' she said.

Jwaneng-based regional coordinator, Thekiso Motshegwa added:  'Culture Spears are trying to portray that they are inspired to motivate the young to discover and cultivate their gifts, in accordance with the theme of this month; we will be with them on Friday when they will entertain the kids the whole day,' Motshegwa said.
