Killer Giants' coach decry schoolboy errors

The Zimbabwean said it is frustrating to watch players concede silly goals. 'It can be quite frustrating when your players concede silly goals. A team has to lose because they are not playing well but giving away goals like we have been doing in the last three games is not good,' Tamirepi said.

The former BMC mentor was hopeful yet realistic about Killer Giants' chances of survival. He decried the manner in which his team lost to Boteti Young Fighters in Lobatse on Saturday saying it was disheartening. 'Imagine conceding three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. If you look at the way they were all scored, it makes you wonder what the team was doing. Our defence lacks the basics and some players often become desperate and concede set pieces and penalties when they are not supposed to,' he said.

Tamirepi acknowledged that both management and Sebatana fans had high hopes when he was brought in at the beginning of the season and the poor performance was a big challenge for him. He said that although his team is currently going through a rough patch, he is positive things will change for the better soon.

'After the Boteti game, I had a clear indication of what we need to do as a team. We need to intensify our training but that does not mean that I doubt my players' fitness. There are certain areas of our game like concentration and decision-making. Our build-ups are good but finishing is a problem,' he said.

Like other debutants in the Premier League, Killer Giants registered average players to bolster their squad after gaining promotion. Of late, only Lawrence Malope who is on loan from BMC has been showing some glimpses of brilliance and scoring crucial goals. He has even pushed veteran Donald Mopako to the bench and was instrumental in the 4-1 demolition of Jwaneng Comets three weeks ago.
