Kenosi braces for Yellow Pages series

The Johannesburg leg is usually held in Germiston where a new track is being laid. Kenosi got a chance to polish up his preparations during Saturday's club championships held in Molepolole. He has set his sights on excelling at the Yellow Pages event.

The G4S4teen sprinter won the 100 metres in Molepolole in a time of 10.6 seconds.

G4S, his sponsors, attribute his performance to the week-long training he got from the company's ambassador, legendary Ethiopian long distance runner, Haile Gebrselassie late last year.

G4S4teen local contact Gwen Harry said: 'Fanuel's performance on Saturday was superb.  He appears to be very focused and goal orientated on what he wants to achieve this year.  After a week of training and mentorship from Gebrselassie last year, he has adopted a more dynamic approach to his training. I am confident Batswana will see him representing our country at the Commonwealth Games later this year'. She added that G4S is still determined to continue to give Kenosi all the support he needs in order to progress further.

Yellow Pages signed a new three-year deal worth R20 million and Athletics South Africa (ASA) allayed fears that the event will not be able to attract international athletes. 'It would be an ideal situation if we could bring them in for our competition because I believe in cross- pollination,' an ASA official recently told the South African media.

This month's Yellow Pages' race is the fourth of the year. The first meeting was held in Port Elizabeth on February 19. Other editions have been held in Durban on February 26 and Potchefstroom on March 4. On March 30, the competition moves to Stellenbosch and then Pretoria on April 6.
