Boko's bid for BNF presidency quashed, for now...

Some BNF members indicated to Mmegi that the decision to investigate and the ruling arrived at by the two-man taskforce is suspect.Speaking on condition of anonymity, a highly placed BNF member said they are worried that some of the people in the central committee are contesting for the elections, while vice-president Olebile Gaborone is contesting for the same position as Boko. Another presidential candidate is Gabriel Kanjabanga. The politburo decided on the matter of Boko's membership where he is accused of being a founding member of the National Democratic Front party.

Mmegi sought to know from party spokesman, Moeti Mohwasa, how the verdict to vet out Boko was arrived at.

Mmegi: What inspired this investigation, especially after the central committee had renewed Boko's life membership?

Mohwasa: Some people came to us complaining that Boko was a founding member of the NDF. They even had some documents showing that he signed some NDF documents.

Mmegi: How did you authenticate the documents?

Mohwasa: The signature that we sourced from the NDF documents at the Registrar of Societies had a resemblance to that of Boko's.

Mmegi: Did you question Boko or some founding members of the NDF like its ex-chairman, Lemogang Ntime, who has since rejoined the BNF?

Mohwasa: No. There was no need to ask them as some of them have since gone to other parties like the ruling party.

Mmegi: What is your advice to those who are against this decision?

Mohwasa: The central committee has taken a decision and if Boko or anyone is not happy with the decision, they can wait for the congress to decide the matter. Or if the numbers favour them, say they have a two third majority, they can appeal the decision just before the central committee.
