Man allegedly beats friend's girlfriend to death

Officer Commanding district 15 senior superintendent Chabaesele Kesupetswe confirmed the matter and said the man will be charged with murder.'We got the report sometime last week that a man was beating a woman in a house in Monarch,' he said. Kesupetswe said that they got the report from the woman's boyfriend who managed to escape from the accused.

Kesupetswe says the police rushed to the house and took the woman to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Officer Commanding says their investigations reveal that the survivor visited his friend, who is now the accused person in Monarch on the fateful day.

'We found out that the accused person left his friend sleeping in the house and he (the friend) later called his girlfriend to come to him at the accused person's house where he was,' he said.

He said that the accused person later found the two sleeping on his bed and he flew into a rage and started beating them.

According to Kesupetswe the man managed to escape naked and called the police. In the meantime the accused person is alleged to have continued beating the woman until the police came and arrested him, before taking the now deceased to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

'It is a straight case of murder and what we are waiting for now is the post-mortem, 'said Kesupetswe.

The woman was 45 years old at the time of her death while her boyfriend is 37 years old.

In another matter not related to this one, Tatitown Police are investigating a case in which a 30 year-old man killed another 30 year-old at a certain bar in Mathangwane recently.

Tatitown Police Station Commander Superintendent Tebogo Madisa says that the accused man is currently in prison.

'This incident took place on 27, May at around nine in the evening at Mathangwane Village,' he said.

He said according to the report, the accused person beat up the other man though they are still investigating the cause of death.

The deceased is from Mathangwane Village, while the accused person is from Tutume Village.

The accused was arrested at the scene of the crime, said Madisa.
