The African States tournament takes place in August while the Commonwealth Games are in October. BBA spokesperson, Lebo Mascarenhas said the combinations were announced after the Lobatse Major held in Gaborone over the weekend.

Mascarenhas said Ivy Morton and Tirelo Buckley will play in the pairs with Oabona Motladiile. Nelly Senna and Mascarenhas will be in the trips. Mascarenhas will compete in the women's singles category. Morton, Buckley, Motladiile and Senna make up the fours team. Newman Motshidisi will compete in the men's singles while Motladiile will play with Remy Kebapetse in the men's pairs.  Kitso Robert, Boitumelo Mosinyi and Motshidisi will be in the men's trips. Ray Mascarenhas will not travel with the team to Harare due to work commitments. But he will be part of the singles squad that will travel to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Lebo Mascarenhas said the BBA has not given the players feed back on the assessment by South African coaches who were brought in by the executive committee. She said players have been told to do more assessments at their clubs.  The reports from the assessment will be sent to the South African coaches.

The coaches were brought in to train players ahead of the Commonwealth Games. Mascarenhas said there was visible improvement during the Lobatse Major, which was won by Gaborone B ahead of Selebi-Phikwe. She said new comer, Mpopi Sepapane has a bright future and he was impressive on his debut at the tournament.
