Who will take Chiefs' hot seat?

But Magosi supporters will have to wait until next month to know whom their next coach is. This is because Chiefs have an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 20 where a new committee is likely to be elected. Staff Writer TSHEPO MOLWANE sniffed around the Chiefs' camp and looks at four men who have been tipped to occupy the hot seat

Innocent MorapediHe has been an assistant coach for a long time at Chiefs and most of the influential people inside the camp believe that he deserves to be given a chance.

He is described as one of the most knowledgeable local coaches and his advantage is to get the best out of his players. But some argue that his open relationship with the supporters might work to his disadvantage.

His other disadvantage, according to insiders, is his tight work schedule at Air Botswana (AB), which sometimes sees him miss training or come late. But all in all, he is a good coach.

Mike SitholeAfter the departure of Wesley Mondo, Sithole has been touted as the favourite to take over at Chiefs. His advantage is that he has been at Magosi before in a season during which they won the league championship for the first time. But it is the manner in which he left Chiefs in December 2007 for Gaborone United (GU), which might jeopardise his chances.

His departure left a sour taste among Chiefs' supporters who vowed that they would never welcome him back. But there is no doubt that Sithole is a fantastic coach having led GU to league championship the previous season and helped BMC avoid the dreaded relegation axe.

Daniel 'Chicco' NareWithout doubt, Nare has proven to the doubting Thomases that he is a coach to reckon with. Having made Extension Gunners play some entertaining football this season, thereby leading them to the fourth spot, Nare has proven that given all the necessary tools, he can do even better.

This might be the reason that convinced the Magosi inner circle that he was the right man for the job. He has been at Magosi before and knows the culture of the team. If chairman Ernest Molome retains his seat at the June 20 indaba, Nare might land Magosi's coaching post.

Madinda NdlovuThough he has been linked with a move back to Zimbabwe, some people within the Magosi camp have always admired the current Motlakase coach. It is his arrogance which has won him respect from some quarters. Of the four coaches, Ndlovu has an outside chance of getting one of the most thankless jobs in the country.
