Kedi survives after task song slip

Her task work was below that of a vocally bestowed contender and a hopeful competition winner.

Through the performance, she showed the audience that the judges' complaints about her mastering and shining in other people's words and totally failing in hers is not a fabrication.

Kedibonye, Stephanie, Omphemetse and Wame were last week's contestants with the least number of votes. It is the competition's norm that one contender should be saved and Omphemetse became the lucky star in the making.

In a not familiar fashion, the competition had roped in a guest judge a certain DJ Shaboo, who seemed to have complicated things. He gave his vote to Kedi but upon request to clarify his stance, he changed his mind and opted for Stephanie to continue her race in the battle to stardom.

The special judge's redirection of votes to Steph led to a stalemate as the two contenders tied. Kedi had the votes of Sid and Kgomotso who prolonged her days despite their outright dissatisfaction with her task performance while Stephanie got the nod from the guest judge and Master Dee.

While the loyal audience trusted the voice of Kedibonye to win her the votes, most were worried that Stephanie could be saved because she never did the things that Kedi gave the audience that day.

'Though you can buy other people songs and sing them, no one can buy your voice,' said DJ Sid who described Kedi's voice as pure.

Kedibonye has an amazing vocal wealth that can take her places. But the rage in which Master D was engulfed last Friday nearly saw her dreams and aspirations in the competition abort before she staged a very beautiful task song.

Though Kgomotso complained she missed some lyrics, it was here, with her first-ever beautifully executed task song where Stephanie's days in the race came to a halt.

But one thing, Kedi should always remember that it does make poetry for a poet to recite Shakespeare's Sonnet 28 while she cannot put her feelings in black and white and convey to an audience.  Artists ought to think on their feet.

Make up missing a line or two because an artist's mind never sleeps and she or he has to see an opportunity in every situation.
