Just what is wrong with men?

Others do not celebrate it because the fathers of their children have deserted them while some did not celebrate this day because the men they call fathers do not deserve to be called that, even biological as this term simply is.

There is something wrong with men that needs urgent attention from the office above. Okay, to be fair to everybody let me not generalise but instead include the word 'some'.

There is something wrong with SOME men. Before I proceed there are other things to clarify by 'the office above' office I am talking about God, the Creator. I needed to clear this because knowing that men-run office called the OP, for all we know there could have been a directive calling on some other men to do some other thing about what I said. And who knows what?

Let us be clear there are a lot of right things that men have done for this planet but I venture to say on the evidence available these are far surpassed by the wrong ones.

I must say it would seem that there is something wrong with the way God created men...some men. It seems that by merely creating them he had done a grave injustice to planet earth and its inhabitants. I say this because almost all wrong is committed by men.

When you look at the prison population of any country, you might find that over 90 percent of prisoners are men. Those men behind bars are guilty of some of the most serious offences ranging from child abuse to murder.

When you witness bad driving - a car overtaking five or more other cars along a solid line - even before you see that person behind the wheel, you can be 99 percent sure that the driver could be male. When you hear about a murder in the neighborhood, the first thing that comes to your mind is that the perpetrator is male.

Oh, by the way when you hear about an armed robbery at a bank, wholesale or filling station, you automatically picture a male face. Just what is wrong with this species called man?

The other day a group of men were fighting badly at a pub whose name I will not disclose. My investigations revealed that the men were playing pool table and there was confusion over ownership of some P1 coin. I have to say it was pretty bloody stuff too. Just for a P1 coin. I would not be surprised if each one of those bloodied bodies did not possess in his pocket a hundred or more.

History shows that the first and second World Wars were started by men while civil wars across Africa are perpetrated by men just trying to prove a point or two, or some sort of strength. Who would ever forget the United States of America invasion of Iraq when a man called George W Bush used thousands of men and women to fight another man by the name of Saddam Hussein just because Bush thought Saddam had weapons of mass destruction that are the preserve of the US and her associates. After thousands of Iraqis were killed and none of those WMD found, Bush had another excuse - that the weapons must have been hidden somewhere. 

Leaving the Saddams and Bushes of this world and coming back home, men down here are also causing problems of their own. Just a few months ago some men were fighting for this thing called the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). The BDP, formed and run by men, has ruled this country for 48 or so years. It turns out the men are fighting over control of this thing. I have a hunch that had a woman been involved somewhere, this thing called BDP would not have split. Women are smarter than that. They tend to find simple solutions for complex problems, painless ends to painful scenarios while men do the opposite.

Men need to call an Indaba and make an introspection of what they have done for this nation. Reports from Australia suggest that two men are in hospital after agreeing to shoot each other with an air riffle on their bare buttocks after taking quite a good quantity of beer. Apparently, they wanted to check how painful it would be for one of those bullets to tear through buttock flesh! How come I have this feeling only men could compose such an encounter!

Lest I rub my fellow men the wrong way, let me take this opportunity to wish fathers of this nation a belated happy Father's Day.
