Slovakia 0 - Paraguay 2 Goals from Enrique Vera and Cristian Riveros took Paraguay to the top of Group F with four points at the match that was played at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. Enrique Vera opened the scoring with a beautiful strike in the 27th minute and Cristian Riveros got his goal four minutes before full time in the 86th minute.

Italy 1 - New Zealand 1 New Zealand fought hard to win their second World Cup point from the defending world champions at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. Shane Smeltz took the lead for the All White in the seventh minute. Italy got their equaliser from Vincenzo Iaquinta's penalty kick after Tommy Smith brought down Daniele de Rossi in the box. The New Zealand draw was well received by their happy fans at the stadium.

Brazil 3 - Cote de'Ivoire 1 Another south American team produced a delightful football against the disappointing African teams as Brazil trashed Cote de'Ivoire 3 - 1 at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. Luis Fabiano opened the scoring with a brace after 25 and 50 minutes and the third came from Elano after 62 minutes. Ivory Coast skipper Didier Drogba pulled one back with a beautiful header in the 79th minute. Brazil's midfielder Kaka was sent off for a second yellow card in the 88th minute from an off the ball incident.
